RBC Capital Markets has revised its year-end price target for the S&P 500 upward to 6,250, citing continued strength in corporate earnings, resilient economic data, and growing investor confidence in U.S. equities.
The new forecast, announced Monday, marks a significant increase from the firm’s previous target of 5,700 and positions RBC among the more bullish voices on Wall Street. If realized, the 6,250 level would represent a new record high for the benchmark index.
“We’re seeing a broadening of market leadership and underlying earnings support that justifies a higher valuation range,” said Lori Calvasina, head of U.S. equity strategy at RBC. “With inflation stabilizing and the Fed poised to begin cutting rates later this year, risk appetite is firming.”
RBC also pointed to robust performance in key sectors such as technology, industrials, and financials as contributing to the index’s upward trajectory. The firm expects further tailwinds from increased capital expenditure, improving global growth prospects, and continued strength in the U.S. labor market.
While acknowledging potential risks—including geopolitical tensions and uncertainty around the U.S. presidential election—RBC maintains that market fundamentals remain favorable heading into the second half of the year.
The S&P 500 has already posted double-digit gains in 2025, fueled by optimism around artificial intelligence, easing inflation, and expectations of monetary policy easing by the Federal Reserve.
