Everything You Need to Know About Bergen City Marathon 2025

The 2025 Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon, held on Saturday, April 26, once again showcased the vibrant spirit of Norway’s running community. Celebrating its 13th edition, the event attracted thousands of participants from around the world to the scenic streets of Bergen, offering a unique blend of urban charm and natural beauty.​


Race Overview

The marathon featured multiple race categories to accommodate runners of all levels:​

  • Marathon (42.2 km)
  • Half Marathon (21.1 km)
  • 5 km Run
  • 2 km Kids Run
  • BT Relay (21 km split into 10 legs)

The course began and concluded at the historic Bryggen Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Runners traversed through iconic locations such as Gamle Bergen (Old Bergen), the elevated paths of Fjellveien, and the picturesque Nordnesparken, offering participants a diverse and memorable running experience. ​

2025 Marathon Winners

In the men’s marathon, Tage Morken Augustson from Varegg Fleridrett clinched first place with a time of 2:24:50. He was followed by Karl Jonas Tronstad, also from Varegg Fleridrett, finishing at 2:27:45, and Jonas Lillejord of Osterøy IL, who completed the race in 2:29:12.

Course Highlights

The marathon’s route is renowned for its scenic diversity and moderate elevation gain of approximately 569 meters.Participants enjoyed a mix of urban landscapes and natural vistas, including the serene paths around Store Lungegårdsvann and the charming wooden houses of Nordnes. ​

For those inspired to participate in future events, the Fjordkraft Bergen City Marathon continues to be a highlight in Norway’s running calendar. Additionally, the Fjordkraft Bergen City Milen, a 10 km race, is scheduled for September 13, 2025, offering another opportunity for runners to experience the beauty of Bergen. ​
