Leeds Otley Run Incident – Counter-Terrorism Police Investigate Crossbow Attack

On Saturday, April 26, 2025, a violent incident occurred on Otley Road in Headingley, Leeds, during the popular Otley Run pub crawl. At approximately 2:47 PM BST, a 38-year-old man armed with a crossbow and a firearm attacked two women, causing serious injuries. The suspect, who sustained self-inflicted injuries, was arrested at the scene and taken to the hospital. All injuries are reported as serious but not life-threatening.

Counter Terrorism Policing North East has taken over the investigation to determine the motive behind the attack.Authorities have stated that there is no evidence suggesting the involvement of additional suspects. The area was cordoned off, and a significant police presence remains to reassure residents and continue inquiries.

The Otley Run is a well-known pub crawl route frequented by students and locals, especially during weekends and university events. The incident has raised concerns about safety and the potential for anti-social behavior associated with large gatherings.
