In the latest rankings from Skytrax, Doha’s Hamad International Airport has claimed the prestigious title of the world’s best airport, surpassing Singapore’s Changi Airport, which has held the top position in previous years.
Skytrax, a leading airline and airport review site, unveiled its list of the world’s best airports for 2024, with Hamad International Airport emerging as the leader. This marks a significant shift from previous years, where Changi Airport was a dominant force in the rankings.
For years, Hamad and Changi airports have been locked in a fierce competition for the coveted title of the world’s best airport. Hamad International Airport previously secured the top spot in 2022 and 2021, establishing itself as a formidable contender. This year, it also claimed the title of the best airport for shopping.
Meanwhile, Singapore’s Changi Airport has a rich history of accolades, having been named the world’s best airport by Skytrax 12 times. The airport enjoyed an impressive streak of eight consecutive wins from 2013 to 2020, reclaiming the title once again last year.
Skytrax compiled its rankings based on feedback from travelers of diverse nationalities, gathering insights on various aspects of airport experiences. Factors such as the quality of dining options, ease of navigating security procedures, and overall passenger satisfaction were considered in the assessment.
One contributing factor to Hamad International Airport’s success is its offering of free city tours for passengers facing long layovers, enhancing the overall travel experience for visitors.
