“This is not peacekeeping—it’s warmongering,” said Renato Reyes of BAYAN in Manila.
Ceasefire Attempts Failing
A ceasefire negotiated by former U.S. President Donald Trump was announced on June 23, but collapsed within hours after renewed missile strikes from Iranian territory.
Diplomatic efforts by Russia, Turkey, and Qatar have yet to yield results. Moscow warned that U.S. backing of Israel “may lead to irreversible consequences.”
What’s at Stake?
- Regional war: Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and even the Gulf states risk getting pulled in.
- Energy crisis: Oil prices have surged to over $150/barrel. The Strait of Hormuz could be threatened.

The United Nations Security Council is divided, with Russia and China blaming the U.S., while Western powers insist Iran must halt its escalation.
